Durante a campanha presidencial nos Estados Unidos em 2008, o candidato do partido republicano John McCain se viu em apuros ao ter que vencer o favorito Barack Obama. Sem muitas cartas na manga, ele é convencido por seus conselheiros a chamar uma mulher para o posto de vice-presidente. Tentando mudar o jogo a seu favor, McCain convoca a polêmica governadora do Alasca Sarah Palin para a função.
