Coraline é uma menina que sonhava viver num mundo melhor, com mais diversão e emoção. Ao mudar para uma nova casa, encontra uma porta trancada. Depois de muito tentar, consegue abri-la. Descobre um mundo onde tudo é alegre e os seus pais são sempre divertidos. A princípio, a única coisa estranha é que as pessoas têm botões no lugar dos olhos. Aos poucos, descobre segredos, percebe que está em perigo e vê que o mundo real não era tão mau assim.
