The height of the heel, thickness of the sole and shape of the toe charters the rise and fall of prosperity, heralds wars and changes in sexual politics while reflecting our individual lives. Interweaving history, myth, nursery rhymes, folklore and Hollywood movies, this documentary tells how shoes reveal how we live and the social class we inhibit. ‘A Journey with Shoes’ is the story of how shoes have taken a thousand different forms and why.
